Steel Cut Barley

Also known as barley meal or grits, steel cut barley is crosscut, tiny chunks of whole hulless barley berries. Just like our whole barley berries, this steel cut barley is made from unrefined grain that hasn't had the bran and germ removed by milling or polishing. Cutting the barley reduces the cooking time without losing any of the goodness because every bit goes into the bag. Every bite is still packed with all the soluble and insoluble fibre; antioxidants; essential minerals and nutrients found in our whole barley berries, including B vitamins, iron, magnesium, copper, zinc, vitamin E, beta-carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin. Use in any recipe that calls for grits or meal of any kind. The rich, nutty flavour of barley makes this a fantastic breakfast porridge, polenta, or side dish; and is perfect in soups and stews.
